Your room price includes breakfast. We bring along a picnic lunch to round off the morning walks, and provide informal evening meals around the kitchen table, alternating with visits to local restaurants.
Everything is based in the picturesque little town of Florac, capital of the Parc nationale des Cevennes and centre of the Unesco World Heritage landscape of the Causses and Cevennes.
In Florac's old streets and squares, the variety of shops, the range of restaurants, the Thursday markets and the monthly fairs still reflect the town's historic role as a focal point for artisans, local commerce and passing trade. But visitors will be pleased to know that some things have changed. The imposing castle and one-time prison, for instance, is now home to the national park and its museum. Church and chapel, whose past conflicts shaped the town over several centuries, have long since settled into peaceful coexistence and buried the bitter enmities of the years of persecution, as Robert Louis Stevenson found here in 1878.
